President: Doug Marshall
Doug is a Portland native who graduated from Sunset High School and the University of Oregon with a business degree. He has been married to Carol 45 years and they have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. He recently retired as President of Marshall Commercial Funding, a mortgage brokerage firm that financed commercial properties. He volunteered with Blanket Coverage for 16 years helping feed the homeless every Monday night and served 5 years as a board member for Fairhaven Recovery Homes providing transitional housing to addicts wanting to turn their lives around. 13 years ago, he and Carol founded The Jesus Table, providing a weekly meal and conversation to the poor and needy.

Board Member: Carol Marshall
Carol was raised in Fresno California. She retired from the Beaverton School district where she worked in the Superintendent’s office and Community Involvement office and served as recording secretary for the school board. Besides her involvement in non-profit organizations with Doug, she has personally come alongside several people struggling with addiction and homelessness and would like to find a way to improve support for social services organizations who are overwhelmed with the demands and ill equipped to address the underlying issues of homelessness.

Secretary: Molly Reichen
Molly had the privilege of teaching children to love books and reading as the librarian at West Hills Christian School for 24 years. Since retiring, she and her husband, Roy, a grass seed farmer, have used their farm to host Reclaiming Hope Ranch, a non-profit ministry to foster children. They have served the homeless for 14 years volunteering at Good Neighbor Center, a family shelter in Tigard, and, for the last 3 years, have served weekly at The Jesus Table. She loves books, her grandson, and driving the tractor!

Treasurer: Marilyn McCarty
Marilyn was born and raised in The Dalles and has been a resident of Portland since 1985. She graduated from The Dalles High School and from Lewis and Clark College with a major in music education and a minor in business. She and her husband, Steve, have two children and four grandchildren who all live in the Portland area. Before retiring, she was last employed as office manager at a local CPA firm for over 16 years. Her responsibilities included keeping the books for the firm and providing bookkeeping services for several of their clients. In her words: “While I don’t have a history of being in the trenches helping the homeless, I have felt a growing alarm at the magnitude of the problem in the Portland area and I want to have a part in helping find a solution.”

Board Member: Jerry Mason
Jerry was raised in Portland and graduated from OSU. He has been in the investment real estate business over 50 years and with his own company, Westland Partners, LLC, as a broker, property manager, developer, builder, and investor. In 1989, he and three others founded the non-profit HOST Development (Home Owners Street at a Time) to build and remodel low income homes for families with 60 to 80% of median income. In 19 years they created over 450 homes. He brings many gifts to the foundation including fund raising, vetting effective operations, overseeing and advising how resources could best be spent, and measuring results.

Vice-President: Steve McCarty
Steve was born in Oklahoma, raised in Montana and has lived in the Portland area for almost 40 years. He graduated from Lewis and Clark College in economics. Steve and his wife, Marilyn, have been married for over 50 years. Steve has worked as a financial advisor for 25 years. He also has experience in accounting, administration, pastoring, and running a small business. Steve served on the board of another local non-profit for 6 years.

Board Member: Daren Connor
Daren was raised in the California bay area and has lived in the Portland area for almost 20 years. He has worked in Technology and Healthcare for 40 years, including WebMD, Providence, and Hewlett Packard, and is currently a Solutions Product Manager for Hospital Patient Monitoring at Philips. Daren served for several years with the Hands In Service ministry at Cedar Mill Bible Church that provided practical assistance with home maintenance and repair for community members unable to address these needs. He was part of the founding team that ideated, developed and launched The Jesus Table in 2011, which provides a weekly meal and conversation to the poor and needy in Cedar Mill.

Board Member: Gary Mittelstaedt
Gary grew up on a wheat ranch in eastern Washington, completed an Engineering Physics Degree from Northwest Nazarene University, and an MBA from Arizona State University. He spent 45 years in high tech companies, including Advanced Micro Devices and Intel. In retirement he led WaterAfrica in Lake Oswego, helping to bring clean water to thousands of Zambians in partnership with World Vision. He has been married to Judi for 57 years, loves travel adventures with her, and has four children and nine grandchildren who bring great joy. He and Judi attend RiverWest Church in Lake Oswego and are passionate about helping restore fullness of life to all who have lost their footing, particularly the homeless of Portland.
